So it is only reasonable to expect to have morning sickness during pregnancy. But when does morning sickness begin exactly?
When I was having my first pregnancy, I also asked the same question. It turns out, however; there is no definite answer to such question. Like the symptom itself, the time morning sickness sets in very individually.
Some women may experience it as early as the fourth week of pregnancy, while others develop it at the later stage of pregnancy. A few fortunate women never even develop any morning sickness symptom at all! That’s how unique morning sickness is.
Typically, morning sickness begins at the sixth week of pregnancy. Having morning sickness can be a tough time for most pregnant women. The day usually begins with an early rush to the bathroom to vomit. And it doesn’t just end there. Morning sickness can actually act up anytime during the day.
One of the quickest solutions to early morning sickness I found very effective is dry soda crackers. Keep a stash of your favorite soda cracker on your bedside and have a few bites right after you wake up early in the morning. It can effectively help ward off my nausea and vomiting, and I know a lot of women found relief from their early morning sickness problems with just a stash of soda crackers.
Nausea and vomiting also happen during the day. The things that trigger nausea and vomiting during the day are odors. Unpleasant odors such as cigarette smoke and strong cologne scent can actually trigger nausea and vomiting.
You will find that during pregnancy, even the odor of foods can be nauseating. My quick solution to this problem is to avoid cooking at all cost during pregnancy. When I was pregnant, I usually leave the cooking to someone else so I don’t end up vomiting.
During pregnancy, you will also find spicy foods to be nauseating. Spicy food is something you don’t want to eat during pregnancy. It would only increase the acidity level inside your stomach causing nausea and vomiting.
Vomiting at least two to three times is ok. Anything less would be of course better. Drinking plenty of water is enough to replace the fluids you’ve lost during vomiting and prevent dehydration. However, if your vomiting is already more than the average, and natural remedies don’t seem to work for you, call your doctor right away.
You may need IV infusion to replace the fluids you’ve lost. Although we may not be clear about when does morning sickness begin, morning sickness usually ends at the sixteenth week of pregnancy and we can all go back to our normal selves and diet again.
